Hiking Backpacks – Comfort Under Every Kilogram
A good hiking backpack distributes the weight so you can carry it for hours without shoulder and back pain. The right volume lets you take everything you need without hauling around extra empty space.
In this category you will find hiking backpacks by the Bulgarian manufacturer Tashev, by Husky (Czech Republic), a brand we officially import to Bulgaria, and by Kilpi (Czech Republic): from light daypacks to large packs for multi-day treks with a tent.
How to Choose a Hiking Backpack
- Volume: depends on the length of the hike and whether you will sleep in a hut or a tent.
- Back system: an anatomical, ventilated back reduces sweating. Models with excellent spacing between your back and the pack are the Husky Scape and Husky Sloper. An adjustable back length lets the pack fit your height exactly – all Tashev backpacks over 60 litres have an adjustable back.
- Hip belt: carries most of the weight and transfers it to your hips. On packs over 30 litres it is essential.
- Shoulder straps and sternum strap: soft padding and a sternum strap stabilise the load as you move.
- Rain cover: a built-in or separate rain cover protects the contents in a sudden downpour. Most Husky backpacks have a built-in rain cover in the base.
- Details: a hydration sleeve, pole holders, side bottle pockets and bottom or front access to the main compartment.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I adjust a hiking backpack?
First loosen all straps and put on the loaded pack. Tighten the hip belt so it sits on your hip bones, then the shoulder straps, and finally the load lifters and the sternum strap. Most of the weight should rest on your hips, not your shoulders.
How should I pack my backpack?
Place the heaviest items close to your back, in the middle of the pack. The sleeping bag goes at the bottom, and the things you need often (rain jacket, headlamp, water, food) in the lid and side pockets.
What backpack for a day hike?
For most day hikes, a 20 to 35-litre pack is enough for water, food, an extra layer, a rain jacket and a headlamp.
Are hiking backpacks waterproof?
Most are made of water-repellent fabric, but seams and zips let water in during heavy rain. That is why you should always use a backpack rain cover, and a dry bag for electronics and documents.
