What is special about ski jackets

Although ski jackets look very similar to their usual everyday counterparts, they have some features that distinguish them. First of all, a material with a suitable waterproof membrane is used in the manufacture of the ski jacket. On the one hand, it allows the evaporation of human sweat to pass through, so as to provide natural ventilation, and on the other hand, it does not allow water to penetrate from the outside to the inside of the skin. This way, you stay dry and warm, regardless of the environmental conditions.

Another important feature of ski jackets is their ability to repel dirt and wind, which is key for every beginner skier.

What to pay attention to when choosing

There are several main points of reference that should be paid more serious attention to when choosing a ski jacket:

Waterproof rating - this indicator can be seen on the label and is indicated in millimeters. The choice is based on the climatic conditions in your region;

Snowproof rating - snow and water simply slide along the fabric, but do not penetrate the interior. If you are a beginner skier, this implies more falls;

Breathable rating - there is an option for the presence of additional holes for natural air circulation under the armpits or their absence.

What are the most preferred types

According to their filling, there are two types of ski jackets: with down and with artificial material. If the climate in your region is harsh in winter or you are cold-hearted, then it is better to get a model with goose or duck down, which will effectively warm you all the time. Types with artificial material are filled with synthetic products, which have weaker insulating properties and are therefore less bulky than their counterparts with natural down. Of course, the latter are also the cheaper options.
