      Musala Peak (2925 m) is not only the highest peak in Bulgaria, but also in the entire Balkans. Although impressive in height, the path to the top is accessible even for motivated beginners. The trek starts from Borovets,

      where a cable car takes you to Yastrebets. From there, you climb along clearly marked hiking trails through Musala Hut and the shelter at Ledenoto Ezero.

      The total time for the mountain trek from Yastrebets to the summit is about 3-4 hours one way, depending on the conditions. The difficulty is moderate, and it is necessary to plan for more serious preparation for the last part to the summit, especially for the changeable weather. With a clear sky, the peak offers breathtaking views of Rila, Pirin, Stara Planina and even distant mountains from neighboring Greece.
