How to choose a tent for tourism?

The tent is a favorite fabric home. It allows us to get as close as possible to nature - to listen to the crickets and the waves, to count the stars… In such a mood, how nice it would be to be able to quickly choose our two-seater tent. Because after all, it is our temporary home and in order to be the most comfortable, we must choose it carefully, like any other home.

What is most important when choosing a two-persons tent?

First of all, we must keep in mind that manufacturers almost always give us an advance of +1 person space. Thus, three people can sleep in a double-seated tent, two in a single tent, etc.

It is good to think a step forward, and even on this trip to be alone, to invest in a two-persons tent. So, the next time a friend, child or spouse joins us, we will have the opportunity to be hospitable.

At sea or in the mountains - you can always with a small tent

This is one of the most important issues when choosing a small, two-persons tent, because the sea and mountain tents are quite different.

For the sea

For the tent by the sea, the most important thing is how airy it is, what its fabric and colors are. When it is maximally open, the air movements pass and so it does not stagnate and does not mate. From here follow the obligatory mosquito nets everywhere, because sometimes a mosquito can make our two-persons tent narrow.

The fabrics of our sea tent should be as thin as possible, the colors - necessarily light. This way it will not attract sun and the fabrics will be more slowly absorbed by the UV rays.

As a reminder, we will mention here that the length of the pegs must be at least 30 cm, if we have to drive them into the sand. Don't we want that incredible breeze to take away our well-chosen two-persons tent?

For the mountain

When we will mainly enjoy the mountain with our tent, we look for it to be waterproof and with two layers of insulation.

Glued taped seams will ensure a maximally dry home. Waterproof zippers repel water. The degree of water resistance is called a water column, the higher it is, the better we will be protected. The optimal option here is at least 3000 m.

 The two-layer insulation of the two-persons tent is mandatory in the mountains. It provides maximum protection from the weather and really helps us feel comfortable at home.

Mosquito nets are again recommended. Mosquitoes are less common in the mountains, but who needs unpleasant surprises. In addition, they protect us from other insects and reptiles.

No compromises in the tent budget

Last but not least in choosing a two-persons tent is the amount we are willing to set aside for it. And as we have already mentioned, it is our natural home, for which we are ready to pay for all the amenities.

The price of small and double tents varies from 150 to 1000 BGN. Here the low price is at the expense of water resistance. The cheaper it is, the smaller the water resistance column. And who wants rain and snow at home?

Determining the price is the weight of the two-persons tent. Here the dependence is inversely proportional - the lighter, the more expensive.

However, if our budget is limited, let the compromise not be at the expense of the water column. It turns out that the most important thing for our home is to be dry and cozy.
