How to choose men winter jacket

The main task of a winter jacket is to protect you from the cold and stay dry in snowy and rainy weather. The winter jacket, or fur coat, is filled with natural down or synthetic material. Materials with greater thermal insulation properties are usually used and often these jackets are longer. Choosing a men's winter jacket can be quite difficult, given that you will wear it throughout the winter season.

The first decision you need to make when choosing men's winter jackets is the type of filling. Both those with natural down and those with synthetic material keep you warm, but there are some differences between them, which means that they are suitable for different climatic conditions. Natural down provides exceptional warmth, given its low weight and the ability to compress it to a small volume. If you are going to spend time in very cold weather, a winter jacket with natural down is the best choice. The same goes for cases where low weight and volume are a priority. The disadvantages are that the down loses some of its insulating properties in wetter weather and requires more careful storage and maintenance. In severe cold the air is dry and then this jacket does an excellent job. Some models have a special insulation layer (membrane) that allows it to withstand wet weather.

Winter jackets filled with synthetic material, in turn, are a great choice in humid climates. Even with more moisture, they can retain their insulating properties. They are easier to maintain and cheaper. Their disadvantage is that they take up significantly more space than jackets with natural down.

The cold requires solid winter clothes. The men's winter jacket is determined not only by its filling. The model and details are an extremely important part of the jacket and you should definitely keep them in mind when choosing. The main thing on which you can justify your choice again is the climate and the environment. Consider where you will wear the jacket - on walks in the mountains or in urban areas.

The hood not only protects you from rain and snow, but also protects your head from cold and wind. It is important for the hood to follow the movements of your head and to be able to easily put it on or take it off, even with gloves on. In some models of men's winter jackets, there is a special compartment for the hood, where it is stored.

  • Zippers should be strong and easy to use. Many models also use zippers that open on both sides. In addition, it is important for the winter jacket to have a protective band on the front or back of the zipper (or buttons) that does not allow the cold to pass through it.
  • The location of the pockets is also very important. They should be easily accessible and deep enough to keep your hands warm.
  • Very often winter jackets have a coating that is waterproof and protects from rain. There may also be a layer to protect against wind.
  • When choosing a jacket, it is important to match it with the other clothes in your wardrobe, with your style of dress and lifestyle. Choose the right size for you. When trying on a jacket in the store, keep in mind that you will probably wear it with thicker clothes underneath.

In short, quality winter men's jackets protect from the cold and harsh winter climate, while meeting your taste and everyday life.
