Hristovski Waterfall: how to get there and what to see nearby

Hidden in the heart of the Elena Balkan, Hristovski Waterfall does not need any big words to impress. You only need to see it once to understand why so many people call it “the little Niagara of Bulgaria”.

How to get to Hristovski Waterfall?

Hristovski Waterfall is located near the village of Ruhovtsi, about 4 km from the town of Elena. It is easy to reach by car – no need for complicated GPS coordinates or professional equipment. Leave the town of Elena and take the road towards Sliven. After a few kilometers you will find a turnoff to the village of Ruhovtsi – the place where your short but inspiring adventure begins.

Upon entering the village, follow the main road to the left, towards the square. Park after the bridge outside the village – there is a convenient place to stop, and the forest trail itself starts right on the other side of the road. This eco-trail does not require mountaineering skills – it is wide, flat and well marked, making it suitable for any family walk.

The path is flat, wide and suitable for all ages and for a family walk. The distance is about 400-600 meters and can be covered in 10-15 minutes on foot.

At the end of the route, you reach an observation deck with a direct view of the Hristovski Waterfall. It descends onto the rocky bed of the Miykovska River and is most impressive in spring - the best time to visit, when the waters are at their highest. In summer, although quieter, it offers coolness and the opportunity for refreshing relaxation.

The walk does not end at the main platform - for the more adventurous there is also a steeper path that leads directly to the foot of the Hristovski Waterfall. The slope is slippery, especially after rain, but the view from below is impressive.

The photogenicity of the place is impressive.
