The rollerblades and the city are connected in an inseparable couple. But for full pleasure of riding them, we need to choose a suitable place for the purpose.

What do we need for a full rollerskating?

  • Quality roller skates
  • Smooth and flat flooring
  • Broom (optional)
  • Desire and smile (required)

Following of the above, let's find out where in Sofia we can enjoy our roller skates.

1.  South Park - Around the fountain of South Park and its alleys. Although there are some, not so flat alleys, South Park is one of the main places for sports in Sofia, including rollerblading. The park is large enough for you to enjoy rollerskating undisturbed by other visitors.

2. The National Palace of Culture - The central location of the garden around the National Palace of Culture makes it an extremely convenient place for most people for do sports. Most of the alleys are not paved, but are made of slabs. This should not worry you, because they are comfortable for rollerskating. However, be careful while rollerblading to avoid accidentally bathing in the fountains.

3. Borisova Garden - Borisova Garden was one of the places that we, the fans of rollerskating, regretted that it was not in good enough condition for riding, but this changed after the complete renovation of the park. Now the iconic Sofia garden is re-asphalted, which makes it a perfect place for all kinds of sports, but especially for inline skates. With its slight slope in the direction of Lake Ariana, the descent from one end of the park to the other is a unique feeling that rollerskating can bring us.

4. Zaimov Park - We have reached the most key place for the development of inline skates culture in Bulgaria. Anyone who has walked around the park has certainly seen the huge number of skaters, as well as the rows of cones lined up on the central alley. You have probably even stopped to enjoy the beautiful combinations of roller skates performed by the fans there. The central alley is also a meeting point of the group "Let's skate together". inline and quad skates, which is why we highly recommend it.

5. The parking lot of the nearby supermarket - Probably sounds strange, but for our surprise, the asphalt of the parking lots is extremely suitable for rollerskating. This is the only place in our list  where there is another major  participant in the movement, namely cars. For this reason, we advise you to approach responsibly and cautiously and to look for an area where the movement of cars is minimal.

You must be wondering why we mentioned that you need a broom for rollerblading.

The need for a smooth and flat floor is mandatory.

Parks often have small pebbles, sticks and rubbish on the ground that would obstruct you and even create a risk of tripping. A broom would be useful for removing unnecessary items if you decide to drive only in a certain perimeter. A few minutes of rough sweeping would save your abraded knee. Don`t forget to take your knee, elbow and wrist protectors.
