The 6th edition of the European Sports Week #BеActive is forthcoming. It is organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports as part of the European Commission's initiative to promote sports and physical activity for all citizens of the European Union,.

During the period 23-30 of September 2020, various sports initiatives and events are planned to promote active sports, improve the physical activity of the population and promote healthy eating. They will take place in Sofia and other big cities in the country.

The event will be officially opened by the Minister of Youth and Sports Krasen Kralev on September 23 (Wednesday) at 18:30 in partnership with Urban week, where the focus will be on sports that can be practiced outdoors in an urban environment. 

This year's campaign will be held under the motto "Be active every day, everyone, sports everywhere."

From the 23rd to the 30th of September 2020, people of all ages will once again have the opportunity to get acquainted with over 50 sports and practice them freely.


Our team, being part of Sports Club "Extreme Skate" will join the initiative with several participations:

Demonstrations and open lesson with inline skates, quad skates and skateboards on 23.09.2020 from 18:30 to 19:30 in the city garden "Knyazhevska gradinka"

Demonstrations 24.09.20 and 25.09.20 in Arena Asics Hall during the #BeActive Sports Fair

Workshop "Let's ride inline skates, quad skates and skateboards together" in front of the National Palace of Culture from 17:00 to 18:30.

- Workshop "Let's ride inline skates, quad skates, and skateboards together!" with lessons for beginners on inline skates and quad skates without age restriction, in which those wishing to try will get acquainted with the rules of inline-skating. The protectors will be obligatory as part of injury prevention. The participants will learn to acquire basic skills in the various movements of inline skates or quad skates such as strengthening, making a turn, stopping, etc.

You will have the opportunity to meet our instructors, as well as sign up for training and fun winter driving indoors in the gym.

For the lessons, you will need your own inline or quad skates. In case you don`t have your own skates, there will be an option for renting a pair from Skate shop Extreme and Tempish Bulgaria provided especially for the Workshop. 

To make it more attractive, we plan to hold periodic fun competition games with the participants in the Workshop, in which they will be able to show the acquired skills, and the best performers will receive prizes.

- Workshop "I ride with Chris" with lessons on longboard or skateboard and demonstrations with cruiser skate, drift skate, paddleboard and snack board.

The lessons are suitable for beginners of all ages who have never ridden a skateboard or longboard, but also for those who already have skateboards and longboards and want to get valuable advice on how to improve their riding technique.


Lessons are held only with participants' who own longboards and skateboards.

The program of the Week will include various events with a focus on sports. Apart from Krasi Georgiev, other popular personalities and prominent Bulgarian athletes will take part in them:

Miglena Selishka (wrestling) (European champion in wrestling up to 50 kg in 2020), Boryana Kalein (rhythmic gymnastics) (4th place at the World Championships in Baku in 2019), Ensemble Erika Zafirova, Simona Dyankova, Laura Traats, Madeleine Radukanova, Stefani Kiryakova (rhythmic gymnastics), Joana Ilieva (fencing) (European champion in women's saber under 20 in 2020), Ivaylo Ivanov (judo) (Silver medalist at the European Games in Minsk (2019) and world champion for military from the championship of the planet in China 2019) Ivet Goranova (karate) (World champion in the Olympic category up to 55 kg "Kumite" at the World Championships in Madrid and gold medalist of the European Games in Minsk in 2019), Stanimira Petrova (World - 2014 and European - 2016 boxing champion in the category up to 54 kg.) and many others.

Highlights of the European Sports Week Program


September 23, 6.30 pm - Official opening of the European Garden of the European Sports Week in partnership with Urban Fest. The focus of the program will be sports that can be practiced outdoors in an urban environment.


September 24-25, 11.00 - 19.00 - #BeActive Sports Fair in Asics Arena Hall. During the days of the fair, sports federations and clubs will present their activities in an attractive way through sports games and demonstrations. The sports fair is held for the second year in a row and aims to arouse children's interest in sports, giving them the opportunity to observe and participate in sports games.


September 14-28 - Open-air exhibition in front of the National Palace of Culture to present the achievements of Bulgarian sport and the history of the European Sports Week in Bulgaria.


September 26, 15.00 - 21.30 - #BeActive Sports Village, including running with high-speed climbing the stairs of the National Palace of Culture, climbing the facade of the National Palace of Culture, orienteering, skateboarding, ballooning and #BeActiveNight in front of the National Palace of Culture. In the sports village federations and clubs will present their activities through demonstrations and information materials. The Night of Sport will continue with a stage program featuring the ambassadors of the European Week of Sport, athletes and a music program.


September 27, 11.00 - 13.00 - #BeActive Outdoor sports with outstanding athletes. Ambassadors of the European Sports Week will conduct training or appropriate sports activities with children and young people in the open and in the past years.


September 28 - Open Day in the fitness centers in Sofia and the country. The initiative is implemented in partnership with Benefit Systems, which manages the MultiSport program.


September 30 - #BeActive School, Sports day at school, and morning training with ambassadors of sports.


All events during European Sports Week are free.


The organization and holding of all events of the European Sports Week will be in accordance with the requirements and regulations of the Ministry of Health and the recommendations of the European Commission for public events in a changing epidemiological situation as a result of the spread of COVID-19.
